It would be an amazing feather in From's cap for sure. At the same time, that's a lot of development resources. Given how overwhelmingly successful Soulsborne/ER have been, I would have expected those to be the franchises which trialed crossplay.

Certainly AC6 focuses on vehicular dogfighting as one of its key appeals, whereas SB/ER are high fantasy exploration games with surprising (incredible) combat depth. Usually in SB/ER you're fighting enemies with rather different combative capabilities to yours. In Armored Core, battlesuit vs battlesuit fights have always been one of the highlights, thus Arena mode etc. A PvP fighting focused game would certainly benefit from crossplay. And SF6 does have it - but no matter how much credit we give From, I don't think they have quite the financial resources Capcom does.

Anything I find so far on google search is people talking about their own speculation and pointing to Elden Ring not having crossplay. So it's in the wind at this point. Pessimistically, I would have expected From to talk it up if they were going to include it.

But we could always be pleasantly surprised.

One thing I am hoping is that the computer opponents in AC6 have been given good scripting, rather than just blatant statistical cheats (as has been the unfortunate tradition).

An early launch for AC6? Color me madly jealous.
